Water is essential for life forms to exist. Majority of living beings depend on adequate supply of water for food, sanitation, transportation and electricity generation. With the growing population and increased demand for water there is a growing recognition for proper use of water. A large portion of world population including India, clean water supply is a major problem.
Since the current water supplies are being put under enormous pressure by exponential growth of usage, it has become essential and with a sense of urgency we need to preserve and manage the water supply that is available to us as aqueducts (under ground water), small water bodies and rivers.
GREPI conducts several courses and workshops in the areas of Rain water harvesting, Small water body management for charging the aqueducts and preserving the local eco systems, and Efficient use of water ( Clean, Grey and Black) in commercial and residential buildings.
GREPI provides LEED consulting services, since LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification of buildings recognize the importance of water usage in both residential and commercial settings, there are several LEED requirements (storm water management, reduce & reuse water, porosity requirements for ground cover to allow as much water as possible to be absorbed locally by the ground) that guides the proper use of water.
Clean water plays an essential role in keeping the balance in our eco-system and directly affects our health and well being. GREPI will be focusing on Water related technologies and issues to support our mission of cleaner air, water and earth.
Carbon Capture and Sequestration
Carbon capture and sequestration is a method to reduce the total CO2 content in the atmosphere. Carbon sequestration can happen with the simple act of planting of trees to elaborate and complex methods to capture CO2 generated in power plants and pump it back to deep caverns and mines that have been dug up by humans.
As the consumption of fossil fuel grows significantly with population and GDP many of these carbon sequestration mechanisms will become significant to mitigate the adverse effects of climate change and unpredictable consequences of CO2 imbalance.
GREPI will be offering classes and workshops in this domain. GREPI will be working and collaborating with several local organizations to promote tree planting and other activities to reduce the carbon foot print.
